An average Reverse Osmosis System (RO System) wastes 3 liters of water for every 1 liter that is purified. The average household has 4 people, and if each of them drinks 2 liters, 24 liters of water will be wasted. In most households, this water goes to waste. This should not be the case. In this article, I have listed 3 things you can do with the excess water from your RO System.

1. Mopping

The waste water from the RO system can be used for mopping your floors. Mopping floors can waste a lot of water and using the excess water generated by the RO system will help save a lot of water. This way, the water from the RO will be saved and the water that you would have used to clean the floors will get saved.

2. Cleaning Vehicles

To wash your vehicle, one must use a wet cloth or a sponge. Using a garden hose wastes thousands of liters of water. By using the surplus water from the RO system, you are not only saving that water, but also the water you would have used to clean your vehicles.

3. Washing Dishes

Directly using extra water from your RO system to wash dishes may not be a good idea. Since the total dissolved salts (TDS) in this water are high, you can dilute this water with tap water. This water can be used for washing dishes. Washing dishes wastes tons of water every cycle. This way, you will be saving water is two places.

I hope that I have been able to convey the importance of saving the water that is wasted from the RO system and how you can use it in your home through this article. I upload articles like this every week, see you next week 🙂
